Unlock Ashtanga

30 Day Programme

Yoga is generally thought to be some movements on a mat. It is much more than that, but it is a good start.

I have been practicing yoga for 7 years, ashtanga in particular for 3 and the shift that the practice has done to my life amazes me, so I am on the mission to bring it to as many people as possible. People who are ready for this transformation and growth. As Sri K. Patthabi Jois said:

“Anyone can practice. Young man can practice. Old man can practice. Very old man can practice. Man who is sick, he can practice. Man who doesn’t have strength can practice. Except lazy people; lazy people can’t practice Ashtanga yoga.”

The practice is suitable for everyone, and a good teacher makes it accessible for all. This means that based on your current fitness level and awareness I will bring you a practice that is suitable for you. As we are all different, our practice will also be different.

From my experience as a teacher, looking at my students, I know that when someone tries to force their body to look the same as others’ it most often results in an injury. While pain is encountered on the way, this is a wrong approach. The body needs to be strengthened and opened in a way that is suitable for each student’s specific needs. This means replacing some poses with modified versions or skipping altogether until the rest of the practice helps your body into that new space.

The term “new space” is important. Ashtanga brings you growth. Growth on many levels, body mind and spirit alike, but what I always tell myself in my practice and others too: growth takes time and consistency, it requires effort and you will experience pain. As there is no existence without suffering, there is no growth without it either. But we must learn to distinguish between what’s acceptable or the incorrect patterns that will result in unrepairable damage over time.

This is why working with a teacher who can give you personal feedback is so important. While group classes are excellent to test your knowledge and follow the flow, constant reassessment and feedback will help you build strong foundations and a sustainable practice.

This programme is not like any other. I am not promising to change your life in 30 days, transform your body so you never have to lift a finger again. That is a dream sold by companies that want you to buy their products and put the responsibility off your shoulders. I am inviting you to take charge of your own health, physical, mental and spiritual alike. I am here to teach you how to work and shift your mindset from procrastination and avoidance to commitment and dedication.

And while you learn to do that and find your inner motivation for ashtanga - and life - there is a supporting community that is also on the same path. A community of likeminded people with a similar growth mindset to reinforce you. Often it is not the physical obstacles that stop us from achieving our goals, but the patterns in the mind. As you now know:

Yoga chitta vritti nirodha. - Yoga is the modification of the fluctuation of mind.

This speaks to each one of us differently, yet holds us on the same path. A path that if you are ready to embark on I am here to be your guide. I am looking to work with people who are dedicated to find themselves through yoga and the unknown. To find a version of this life for themselves that serves them more and ultimately leaves them feeling more energised and content day in and day out.

If you are ready to begin, all you need to do is get in touch with me in e-mail or  on any of the platforms below. I have 10 spaces left in the programme, so don’t hesitate too much and sign up today.
